Italian Greyhound
Pictured Above: "Lido" Amy Sereday General: Light and Dainty the Italian Greyhound does not leap out as a weight pull dog. Surprisingly the Italian Greyhound makes pulling fun. They are not traditionally or likely be be a top performing pull dog but once the Italian Greyhound has made its bond it will intelligently pull for its owner. Though not a shy dog they do take time to bond with there owner and do truly enjoy their companionship. Origin: Ancient Egypt and later Rome.
History: Undoubtedly the Italian Greyhound can trace its roots back to the Ancient Egyptian sight hounds. Depicted in Ancient texts and paintings of old. This dog without little doubt is from the same blood of the larger sight hounds some claim they are bred down to be more of a companion size but the Italian Greyhound and smaller sight hounds can be seen in Ancient Drawings. The Italian Greyhound is a perfect miniature of larger sight hounds. Temperament: The Italian Greyhound is a dog who enjoys the finer things in life. He chooses his food, friends and bed. Not to be shy, but this dog take time to truly bond. typically the Italian Greyhound is a loving and lovable dog.
Size: 9-12 Lbs. Today's Uses: The Italian Greyhound is typically and mainly a pet. They make a wonderful companion. Some Italian Greyhounds have done well in agility but this determined and resourceful dog can handle most any dog sports today.
